Chantal

Chantal was born in 2013 in West Africa. Her mother has died. She is the fifth of seven children. African families are quite large and often struggle to provide the basic necessities of life.

Her life is quite simple. There is no running water. Instead, each day someone must walk to the nearest well which is often more than 2-3 kilometers away to fetch water for the family. This is a very strenuous chore and takes up a great deal of time. Chantal does laundry, gathers firewood and helps cook for the family and helps care for her younger siblings. She also helps work in the fields when she is not in school.

Her family grows their own food. Their main crop is corn but they also grow beans and peanuts. They also own a few chickens.

This year (2023-2024) Chantal is in 5th grade. She is a serious child, but she is very happy to be able to learn to read and write. Her father struggles to pay the school fees for her and the other children in the family but knows the value of providing an education for her.

You can give Chantal and her family hope for the future through sponsorship. Basic medical care, tuition, school supplies and twice-yearly gifts of food and other items are all covered by the monthly sponsorship donation. Think what it would mean to Chantal to know someone cares enough to help. Would you consider becoming Chantal’s sponsor?
