Tryphene was born on October 10, 2006. He is the second of three children in his family. His parents never had an opportunity to go to school but they hold the education of their children as a high priority. The family lives in a mud-brick house in Sector 3 of Yako. They do not have electricity or running water. There are two small houses in their courtyard. Tryphene’s father carries the responsibility of his mother and siblings because he is the oldest son in the family and his father has died. This responsibility is very heavy for him. He works trying to run a small shop and Tryphene’s mother works in the fields to help feed the family. Tryphene is at the Sheltering Wings School.
