Meet Abdoul Guelilou Ouedraogo, a spirited first grader (2024-25). Born in 2019, Abdoul's days are filled with the innocence and joy of childhood, balanced with the responsibilities that come with his unique circumstances. While both of his parents are alive, he resides with his grandfather on a small family farm that provides sustenance for the entire family. The farm, though modest, is a testament to the resilience and unity of Abdoul's family as they work tirelessly to ensure they have enough to eat throughout the year.

Despite the challenges, such as the lack of running water and the nearest well being a 2 km trek away, Abdoul's spirit remains undeterred. Every school day, he walks 2 km to reach his classroom, where his favorite subject, reading, opens up new worlds and fuels his dreams. Post-school hours see him either playing soccer with friends or diligently studying his lessons. Abdoul's aspirations are grand; he dreams of becoming the president of his country, driven by a desire to bring positive change to his community. His family provides a strong foundation of love and support, nurturing Abdoul's ambitions and hopes for a brighter future.
