Allasane 1667MNIAN16
Allasane is a young man well acquainted with grief. In 2004, while his mother was pregnant with Allasane and his twin brother, his father passed away. The boys have been lovingly cared for by their grandmother and uncle ever since.
Today, in 2026, Allasane is in his first year of university—a remarkable achievement for a young man from a small village in southwestern Burkina Faso.
Life in his village is not easy. Most families survive by cultivating the land. Corn, beans, rice, and peanuts are staple crops, while some men grow cotton and sesame as cash crops. The women work tirelessly to grow food to feed their families. The climate is harsh, and drought often causes crops to fail, leaving families vulnerable. Yet during heavy rains, the mud-brick homes topped with thatched roofs can collapse. The extremes of drought and flooding are constant concerns.
There is no electricity or running water in the village. Meals are cooked over open fires in the courtyard. When Allasane is not studying, he works in the fields alongside his family, helping in every way he can.
His aging grandmother deeply values education and longs to see him continue in school, but providing for university expenses is far beyond what she can manage alone. A sponsor would make it possible for Allasane to remain in school. Sponsorship provides tuition and school supplies, basic medical care, and twice-yearly gifts of rice and practical items for the family.
Most importantly, sponsorship offers hope.
Would you prayerfully consider becoming Allasane’s sponsor and helping him continue the journey he has worked so hard to begin?
