Hello, my name is Amamata.  I come from a Muslim family.  Even though both of my parents are still alive, I live with my older brother in the city.  He has a little shop where he sells things.  We do not have either running water or electricity.  The closest well is about two kilometers away.  In our village, we have a small family farm that we use to try to grow the food that we will eat throughout the year.

My school is about a kilometer away from my home.  I don’t have a bike, so I walk there with a lot of other kids. Earth Science is my favorite subject. After school, I like to study or do homework.  I also help out around the house and play marbles with my friends.  When I’m all grown up, I want to become a midwife.
