Amidatou is a bright and determined young girl living in a large family compound with her parents and a sibling. Though her home does not have electricity or running water, Amidatou’s days are filled with laughter and hope as she plays with friends, helps care for the family’s animals, and does her homework by the light of day. Her family depends on their small farm for food, and every morning Amidatou walks 1.5 kilometers to school, eager to learn and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.

Life presents many challenges for Amidatou and her family. The nearest well is about a kilometer away, so getting clean water is not easy. Her parents do not have formal jobs, but they work hard to provide for their children. Amidatou comes from a Muslim family, yet she is surrounded by compassion and encouragement through Christian sponsorship. With the support of sponsors, Amidatou’s future shines brighter, offering her the chance to reach her goals and inspire others in her community.
