Aminata is a courageous young woman. She was born in West Africa in 1999. Although she is believed to have been born hearing, she became deaf during childhood. She is able to read and write in French but has not yet learned sign language.

This is her second year studying sewing at a very special school that welcomes both deaf and hearing students. She is able to follow instructions that are written down, and it is our hope that she will also learn some sign language, allowing her to communicate more fully with her teachers and classmates.

Aminata is resilient and determined to succeed despite the challenges she faces.
