Hello, my name is Awa.  I live with my parents in a small home that does not have either running water or electricity.  The closest well is about half a kilometer away from our home. We are a Protestant family.  Neither one of my parents has a regular job, but we have a small field in our ancestral village where we all work throughout the rainy season to try to grow the food that we will eat throughout the year.

A family member normally walks with me to drop me off at school each morning.  Then they pick me up in the afternoon, too.  After school, I like to help my mother around the house or play games with my friends.  My favorite games are marbles and hide and seek.
