Awa is a bright and hopeful second grader (2025-26) living in a large family compound with her parents and two siblings. Every morning, she walks nearly a kilometer to school because she doesn’t have a bike, and she enjoys learning alongside her friends and one of her siblings who also attends school. Their home doesn’t have running water, so the family relies on a distant well for their daily needs, making life both challenging and resilient. Though her parents do not have regular jobs, they work hard on their small farm, growing food to sustain the family throughout the year.

After school, Awa takes pride in helping care for the family’s animals and assisting with dinner preparations. Her heart is full of dreams, and she hopes to become a famous person when she grows up. Coming from a Muslim family, Awa’s life is shaped by community, and she treasures the support of those around her. With Christian child sponsorship, Awa has the opportunity to reach for her dreams, receive encouragement, and grow in hope of Jesus Christ as she faces each new day.
