This precious little girl is Awa. She and her twin sister were born in West Africa in 2018 and are growing up in extremely difficult circumstances.

Awa’s father passed away when the girls were only two years old. Today, Awa lives with her mother and five older siblings in a small mud-brick house that is constantly in need of repair.

Awa’s hardworking mother does everything she can to provide for her family. She collects water from the community pump and sells it at nearby sites where workers are making bricks. But during the rainy season, people collect rainwater instead, leaving her unable to make sales. Those months are especially difficult. Food becomes scarce, and the family faces tremendous financial stress. Two of Awa’s older brothers also do odd jobs whenever they can to help meet the family’s basic needs.

Despite these hardships, Awa is enrolled in school. During the 2026–2027 school year, she is in the second grade. Unfortunately, her ability to remain in school is not guaranteed because of her family’s poverty.

What a blessing it would be for Awa to find a sponsor.

Sponsorship would pay Awa’s school tuition and provide the school supplies she needs for her grade. In addition, an important part of the sponsorship is a gift of 100 pounds of rice twice a year, providing meaningful assistance to Awa and her family when food is especially difficult to obtain.
