Bakene

In many ways, Bakene is just like any other boy his age. He is a son, a brother, a student, and he loves playing soccer with his friends. But in other important ways, his life is very different.

Born in 2013 in a remote West African village, Bakene lives in a small house made of mud bricks, without electricity or running water. At night, he sleeps on a woven mat on the floor. His family, like most in their community, are subsistence farmers. When the rains are poor, the corn harvest is not enough to feed them through the year.

Tragically, Bakene’s father was killed in a train accident, leaving his mother to shoulder the responsibility of providing for her children alone. She works tirelessly but worries she cannot keep her son in school. This year (2025-2026) Bakene is in the 6th grade.

Sponsorship would ease these heavy burdens. It would cover school fees, provide a backpack, uniform, and supplies, and ensure Bakene continues his education. Twice a year, his family would also receive 100 pounds of rice and soap—practical support that makes a tremendous difference.

Would you consider sponsoring Bakene? Your generosity will bring hope, stability, and encouragement not only to him, but to his entire family.
