Djenebou
Djenebou was born in 2008 in a remote village in West Africa. There are five girls and two boys in her family. Her father died in 2019 leaving her mother to provide for her large family. They live near their paternal extended family. Djenebou’s house is a small building made of mud bricks. Most houses have either a thatched or tin roof and mud floor upon which the family sleeps. There is no electricity and the family must get water from a well that may be a long distance from the home. The family are subsistence farmers whose main crop is corn. Although they may also grow a small amount of beans, peanuts or okra. Djenebou enjoys going to school and knows how fortunate she is to get an education. Girls are often not given this privilege and are the first to be taken out of school when the family can no longer afford to continue to educate all their children. This year (2024-2025) Djenebou is in the 9th grade. Sponsorship covers school fees, school supplies, basic medical care and a twice- yearly gift of 100 pounds of rice and other necessary items. Your sponsorship would make a world of difference to Djenebou and her family.
