Issa is the youngest of four children, three of whom are seriously handicapped. Issa cannot walk. His legs are atrophied and he cannot put any weight on them. Issa lives with his mother and father but the family situation is far from ideal. The father has rejected the mother and the three children. He has said that it is the mother's fault that the children are handicapped. That she does not produce good, healthy children. When the father is in the courtyard, he does not want to see Issa or his other siblings and requires them to stay shut up in a bedroom.For the time being, the mother and the children have a place to stay in the family courtyard even though it is far from an ideal environment.

The family lives in a small mud-brick house without access to electricity or running water. Issa goes to school with a handicapped bicycle that the sponsorship program has provided for him.  This year (2025 - 2026), Issa is in the 11th grade.  Because there are 13 years for a high school diploma, Issa has 2 more years of study after this year.
