Mariam is a bright and determined third grader who dreams of becoming a nurse one day. Living with both of her parents in a modest home without electricity or running water, Mariam faces daily challenges most children her age can scarcely imagine. The nearest well is a kilometer away, and every day, she walks 2 kms to school because she doesn’t have a bike. Despite these hardships, Mariam's enthusiasm for learning, particularly in her favorite subject, French, is unwavering.

At home, Mariam is a beacon of joy and responsibility. She has two siblings and diligently helps her family by washing dishes. Singing is one of her passions, and her voice often fills their small home with song. The family struggles to secure enough food and sustain themselves, making every meal a precious gift.
