Marie was born in 2009. Her parents are both living and are subsistence farmers. In 2022, Marie’s family was forced to flee their village when terrorists attacked, killing many residents and burning their fields. They escaped on foot with only what they could carry.

At the time, Marie was in the sixth grade, but since that day, she has not been able to return to school. Her family has since settled in another small village, where they are working to rebuild their lives from almost nothing.

Marie is an excellent candidate for the Girls Training Center, where she will learn practical life skills such as sewing and traditional weaving, as well as gardening techniques and animal husbandry. These skills will give her the opportunity to earn an income and begin building a more stable future.

Marie is eager to learn and is determined to become independent so that she can also help support her family as they start again.
