Hello, my name is Nafissatou.  I come from a Muslim family.  I live with my mom and my four siblings in a small home that does not have any electricity or running water.  The well is about a kilometer away.   My mom doesn’t have a regular job, but we have a small family farm that we work on during the rainy season to try to grow the food that we will eat throughout the year.  

Mom normally takes me to school and then picks me up in the afternoon, too.  It’s about a kilometer each way.  Reading is my favorite class! After school, I help my mother around the house.  Sometimes I wash the dishes.  Then I study my lessons or play marbles with my neighbors.  When I’m all grown up, I want to become a doctor!
