Nafissetou is a bright and hopeful young girl living with her mother and two siblings. Though she has never met her father, she prays every day that one day God will bring him into her life. Her mother works hard to provide for the family, tending to their small farm during the rainy season to grow enough food for the year. Their home does not have running water or electricity, but Nafissetou’s resilience shines through. She enjoys riding her bike to school, just about a kilometer each way, and her favorite subject is math, where she always strives to do her best.

After school, Nafissetou can be found playing marbles with her friends and helping her mother by washing the dishes. Despite the challenges her family faces, she remains joyful and full of faith. Coming from a Christian household, she draws strength from prayer and dreams of becoming a doctor when she grows up, so she can help others in her community.
