Nema

Nema was born in 2009 in a remote village in West Africa. Like most girls growing up in her culture, much was expected of her. She had the daily task of fetching water from the village well for her family’s needs. She gathered firewood and cooked meals over an open fire. She did laundry and helped care for the younger children in her family. When she was not in school, she worked in the family fields where they grew all of their food.

Nema was happy to be sent to school but struggled to succeed in the traditional classroom. There was little time for her to study. Last year she was in the 6th grade but failed to thrive. So, her family removed her from school.

Nema has the opportunity for a new beginning by being enrolled in a residential vocational school for girls in January of this year (2023-2024).

During the two-year program she will learn sewing, weaving, farming and animal husbandry. Each day begins with devotional time.

Upon graduation from the program, she will be given either a weaving loom or a sewing machine to help her apply her new skills and bring in an income to support herself.

Your sponsorship will help provide for her needs while she acquires skills for a successful future.
