Salimata is a bright and determined second grader (2025-26) who lives in a small village with her mother and four siblings. Although she comes from a Muslim family, Salimata’s life is shaped by daily challenges that require resilience and hope. Her mother works tirelessly to care for the children, even though neither parent has a steady job. Their home lacks running water and electricity, and the closest well is nearly a kilometer away—a distance Salimata covers each morning on her walk to school. Despite not having a bicycle, she is committed to her education, and finds joy in reading and writing, her favorite subjects.

Salimata dreams of one day becoming a nurse, eager to help those in need in her community. For now, she enjoys playing marbles with friends and helping her mother with household chores.
