Salimata Yelkouni is a bright and determined 7th grader (2024-25) who is navigating her education with unwavering resolve despite the challenges she faces. Living with her parents and seven siblings in a modest home, Salimata's family does not have access to running water or electricity, making everyday tasks more demanding. Her parents, lacking regular employment, manage a small farm that provides the family with their food. Despite these hardships, Salimata's enthusiasm for learning remains undiminished.

Every day, Salimata rides her bicycle 4 kilometers to school, where she excels in her favorite subject, math. Her evenings are a mix of playful hide and seek with her siblings, household chores like washing dishes, and dedicated study time. Salimata dreams of one day becoming a nurse, a goal that reflects her caring nature and desire to help others.
