This spunky young man is Viviens. He is fun loving and resilient despite the hardships he faces every day.  He and his twin brother were born in 2014.They have four older siblings and one younger sibling. Their father died shortly after the birth of their youngest sibling. Caring on her own for her large family is overwhelming for Viviens' mother.

As for most families in this region of West Africa, Viviens' family farms for a living. The main crop is corn which is ground into flour to make a porridge-like food which is eaten daily. They also grow beans and peanuts. The family home is made of mud bricks and has a tin roof. There is no electricity or running water in their village. Daily, Viviens and his siblings take turns going to the village well to get water for the family's needs.

This year (2025-2026) Viviens is in the 6^th grade. He loves school and works hard. His favorite pastime when not in school or doing chores is playing soccer with his friends.
