Benjamine was born in 2007 and lives with her parents in Sector 5 of Yako. She has one brother and three sisters. The family has no running water or electricity at their home. They get their water from a communal well 1 kilometer from their house. Benjamine’s parents are cultivators. They grow food during the rainy season that will feed them throughout the year. With such a large family and no additional income, it is difficult for them to send all of their children to school. Benjamine started at the Sheltering Wings School. She walks 3 kilometers every day to and from school. Wendinkonte Benjamine will need a sponsor to continue attending school.
