Elene lost her husband 16 years ago. All of this time she has been the sole provider for her children. Now, her two daughters have married and moved away and her two sons are in the Ivory Coast looking for work. She rarely sees her children and receives no help from them. She has been left with the responsibility of caring for her two grandchildren. She lives in the courtyard of her husband’s brother in the village of Boura and there are fifteen people living together. Although she has a place for her and her grandchildren to live, they receive no other assistance. She cultivates to provide food and many times they have nothing. Despite her hardships she is doing everything she can to send her grandchildren to school so that they will have a good future. Sponsorship would help Elene greatly.
