Mariam 0137WYAKO16

Mariam lost her husband in 1998, leaving her with six children to care for. At the moment, three of her children are living with her and only one of them is in school. The other two help her raise and sell sheep. She has three sheep right now. All her other children have moved away, some of them married and others seeking work. Mariam’s husband had another wife who is also living with her. The home that Mariam and her family live in is very simple. There is no water or electricity. The well for water is not too far away and her children help with bringing water to the home each day. As she gets older it is becoming increasingly difficult for Mariam. The family has no land to cultivate so they rely on the sale of sheep to have food, medical care and other basic needs. This is difficult as it takes time for the sheep to have babies and for those babies to grow large enough to sell, therefore Mariam is always struggling. With sponsorship, Mariam will have food and access to medical care. This will help her family significantly.
